Pumpkin Potato Soup

Pumpkin soup

Potatoes and pumpkins are healthy. Why not make a soup of both? Here’s the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Pumpkin (one half)
  • Potatoes (3-4)
  • Soup cubes
  • Caraway (Kümmel)
  • Nutmeg (Muskatnuss)
  • Milk
  • Sour cream
  • Ginger
  • Salt

Slice the pumpkin and the potatoes into small cubes and put them into a pot containing hot water. Add salt, soup cubes, grained caraway, ginger and one nutmeg. Cook and mash the whole thing well but get rid of the nutmeg before you damage your equipment. Finally add a shot of milk and/or sour cream and stir. Before you serve the soup, you may add a shot of pumpkin seed oil as shown in the picture. Gives some nice effect.

Funny Ha Ha

A small, nice and very likeable slackermovie about Marnie (Kate Dollenmayer), a girl aged 23 who is looking for a boyfriend and a temporary job in Boston. Very authentic, very realistic, and sometimes funny indeed. Filmed on 16mm film this movie features very nice camera movements, nice lighting but generally lacks sound quality. Nevertheless it was - besides Kotsch - one of the movies I enjoyed most this year.

Andrew Bujalski who directed this movie in the year 2002 is now being referred to as the new hero of independent cinema and almost considered as the heir of John Cassavetes’ legacy.

Fehlfarben (Addendum)

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Oh my! Today I was told that all links to the mp3 audio files of the Fehlfarben concert led to 404 errors (there was a small typo in each link). Now I fixed them and added a jewelcase cover for those who want to burn the tracks onto a cd-r.

Test your firewall

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Do you think your firewall does its job? Download LeakTest, a simple utility that tries to establish a connection to an internet server. Within one second you’ll know whether your firewall protects you against any possibly dangerous application connecting to the internet or not.

You want to push the limits? Rename the file LeakTest.exe (for example ‘putty.exe’) and check whether your application-based firewall is smart enough to detect this ‘cheat’.

This is going to be the start of a series of “Asian cuisine” wok recipes. It took me one year to discover that I could eventually use my own wok. It remained on top of my hifi components (actually my old Sony MDS-JE520 MiniDisc deck) until I fully relocated.
